Our Fellowship delivers a comprehensive, immersive experience in neurosurgery, pain management, and internal medicine. As an MSK, MSO Fellow, you'll undergo meticulous, hands-on training from our experienced neurosurgeons, pain management and internal medicine doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. The MSK, MSO NP/PA Fellowship program has a unified mission.

Our MSK MSO Fellowship provides a comprehensive, immersive experience in neurosurgery, pain management, and internal medicine. This 24-month, full-time program combines both didactic and clinical components, offering Fellows hands-on training from experienced neurosurgeons, pain management doctors, internal medicine specialists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Fellows can expect to dedicate 40-60 hours weekly, engaging with a wide range of patients across clinical settings, including 800 in-clinic, 600 skilled nursing facility, and 500 in-hospital patients, along with assisting in 300 surgeries annually. Our goal is to develop the next generation of elite physician assistants and nurse practitioners, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for providing the highest level of comprehensive care.

Upon successful completion of the program, Fellows will receive a Certificate of Completion from MSK MSO, and we will support them in securing competitive employment as a neurosurgical, pain management, or internal medicine physician assistant or nurse practitioner.

Stipend
The MSK, MSO NP/PA Fellowship offers an annual compensation that will vary as it is performance-based. This will be paid to you in biweekly installments over 24 months.
This includes an on-call stipend for taking calls with neurosurgeons at our affiliated hospitals. With the call stipend, a percentage of collections bonuses, and other sources of incentivized income, the total compensation is expected to exceed $130,000 in the first year and $150,000 in the second year.
Living Expenses
Living expenses, including transportation, housing, and meals, are the responsibility of the Fellow.
Our practices, including San Diego Neurosurgery (SDN), South Bay Neurosurgery (SBNS), Back2Life Pain Management (B2LPM), and Pacific Senior Group (PSG), will oversee the MSK MSO Fellowship, providing expert mentorship across these specialties.

This Fellowship is offered by private practice physicians who are not affiliated with any academic institution. It is a collaboration of SDNeurosurgery, South Bay Neurosurgery, Back2Life Pain Management and Pacific Senior Group practices.
This Fellowship has a rolling admission process. A Fellow can be accepted at any time throughout the year.
Yes, this is a full-time position.
The program accommodates between 1 to 4 Fellows at any given time.
It is a 24-month program.
Yes, graduating Fellows may be offered a Faculty position in the Fellowship, depending on their performance during the program.
Yes, in several of our hospitals, an NP cannot assist in the OR without this. This is not required for Physician Assistants (PA). If accepted into the Fellowship, the NP should enroll in any available RNFA program. as soon as possible. The NP can start with the Fellowship as an RNFA student and obtain the certificate once enough hours are acquired in the OR within the Fellowship.
Yes, the Fellowship will reimburse for RNFA course as long as the Fellow completes the program. The fellowship will also cover the cost of DEA certification, hospital privileges and dues, etc. as long as the Fellow completes the program.
No, the Fellowship is a salaried position. As such all vacation days are not paid time off.
The Fellowship is a two-year commitment. However, the contracts will be one year and renewable for another year if the Fellow performs well in the first year.
