Weekday Schedule
Start Time: Usually begins around 8:00 AM, though this can vary based on the attending’s clinic schedule.
Lunch Break: A short break is typically taken between 12:00 – 1:00 PM, depending on patient load.
End Time: On clinic days, activities generally conclude by 5:00 PM.
Evening Events: Occasionally, there are optional physician dinners between 6:00 – 8:00 PM, which are great opportunities for networking and mentorship.
Operating Room (OR) Days
OR days usually start earlier, around 7:00 AM, and take place at various surgical centers across San Diego.
End times vary significantly depending on the type and duration of the surgery.
Transportation arrangements are the observer’s responsibility.
Weekend Responsibilities
Saturdays (Occasional): Participation in student-run clinics from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
Opportunities may arise to observe or assist with structured clinics or cadaver labs, depending on their scheduling.
Sundays: 5:00 PM PST: Research meetings (virtual); 8:00 PM PST: Surgery case meetings (virtual).
Flexibility:
If you have other commitments (e.g., USMLE exams, research deadlines), please discuss your schedule with our Director of Education Department in advanced.
The observership is designed to be flexible, but your proactivity and engagement will determine how much you gain from the experience.
Program Cost & Eligibility
$2,000 USD per month.
Valid visa and medical credentials required.
Graduation credentials or proof of medical studies will be required.
Background check will be required.
Vaccination records will be required.
Question & Answers
The observership lasts a minimum of 2 months. After that, observers may be considered for a letter of recommendation. However, staying longer is strongly encouraged to gain the full experience.
A B1/B2 tourist visa allows you to join our program as an observer only, with no hands-on experience. To participate in hands-on activities, you will need an appropriate work or training visa such as a J-1 or H-1B.
Job opportunities are not guaranteed. Candidates are generally considered for employment after 6 months in the program.
No. We do not charge any application fee.
The observership costs USD 2,000 per month. The fee is non-negotiable, and we offer no scholarships or concessions.
All activities take place in San Diego, California.
No. Observers arrange their own housing, though we can share local rental contacts upon request.
You will rotate through both outpatient clinic visits and hospital operating-room days to experience the full spectrum between clinical and surgical care.
Yes. As long as you can supply documentation that meets U.S. hospital standards, vaccines and TB testing completed in your home country are valid.
No, the physician's own malpractice insurance will cover you.
